At the time this project took form, no Content Management System (CMS) on the market answered the specific needs of professional photographers, especially when dealing with photographic content and related contingencies, such as: intellectual property protection, flexible user permissions, multiple-resolutions access control, photographic content-based shopping platform, integrated promotional tools (such as RSS news feeds and E-postcards), etc.
Since the cost of development of such an application would have been to high to address a single customer's needs, the idea was raised to sale the product on an ASP-basis (Application Service Provider), through and thanks to Yann Loosli's (www.yann.name) sale and marketing talents. aonati.com and its professional photographers-oriented service (photo.aonati.com) was thus officially launched on January 1st, 2004 (after one year of development and testing), and offered a solution for any photographer willing to promote himself through the Internet, get/keep in touch with his customers and sale various products based on his work through the included e-Commerce/credit-card platform and Silverwire's (www.silverwire.com) labs-interfacing possibilities.
photo.aonati.com thus gathered a small community of professional photographers, each having his own LIB.CES-based (Cogito Ergo Soft's Software Library) website, while in the same time being promoted through the photo.aonati.com portal.

aonati.com and photo.aonati.com entirely rely upon Cogito Ergo Soft's Software Library (LIB.CES; more specifically Photo.CES), a software solution based on the Open Source's PostgreSQL relational database and PHP programming language, Linux platform and apache web server.
On the last count, Cogito Ergo Soft's Software Library could be summarized as :
- Photo.CES (1.02)
SQL :
230 tables / 260 view / 1'494 functions
44 files / 49'240 lines / 2'215'104 characters
HTML/PHP :
4'484 files / 202'491 lines / 8'831'968 characters
- Shop.CES (1.01)
HTML/PHP :
124 files / 5'271 lines / 243'976 characters
- Passport.CES (1.00)
SQL :
6 tables / 7 views / 86 functions
12 files / 2'714 lines / 101'303 characters
HTML/PHP :
276 files / 11'608 lines / 471'687 characters
- WWW.CES (1.00)
HTML/PHP :
182 files / 7'658 lines / 304'618 characters
CSS :
79 files / 3'721 lines / 282'331 characters
In other words, some 280'000 lines and 12'500'000 characters... or the equivalent of 5 Harry Potter volumes !
